Disney+ as the much awaited streaming service by film giant Disney that was set to blow all the other streaming services out of the water. And it did just that.
Ever since its first launch Disney+ has been a top streaming service, allowing users access to thousands of movies and TV shows in the Disney and Marvel universes.
The launch of Disney+ was well orchestrated with the service being compatible with lots of different devices and platforms. These include laptops, smart TVs, smartphones, PlayStation, Xbox, Apple TV, and Chromecast.
If your chosen platform is Chromecast then there is a fair chance that you might have encountered a common bug where you get no sound on Disney+.
This issue has not been worked out of the device, but it is easy enough to fix. In this guide we’re going to tell you everything about why this bug occurs, and also how to fix it so that you can enjoy your favourite movies once more.
No Sound: Disney Plus on Chromecast
As we have said, there is a common bug on Chromecast where sometimes you will find that when you open up the Disney+ app there will be no sound with it.
This isn’t immediately noticeable, and you might not be able to tell that the sound isn’t working until you open up the show or film that you want to watch.
There are multiple reasons that this might occur, and one of the main influences is whether you are streaming on an independent Chromecast, or on a TV that comes with Chromecast built in.
If you are using a TV with built-in Chromecast then the bug that you are experiencing may be down to the manufacturer.
The issue that you are experiencing could be due to the fact that the manufacturer might not have updated the TV to the latest firmware. This would result in the Disney+ app having issues.
Alternatively, if you are streaming on an independent device with Chromecast then the bug that you are experiencing could be due to a lack of updates. Both Disney+ and Chromecast continually run updates, and in some cases these updates will not automatically install themselves onto the device.
As we have said, developers like Disney will release updates incredibly regularly as they constantly work to remove any bugs from the service.
If you fall behind on updates then these bugs will continue to occur as you will not have downloaded the update that fixes them. Now let’s take a look at how you can fix this problem.
Fixing Sound Issues on Chromecast
Finding that you have no sound on Disney+ on your Chromecast can be a huge inconvenience, so let’s have a look at how you can fix this problem.
The ways to fix this issue will differ depending on whether you are streaming on a TV with Chromecast built-in or an independent Chromecast device.
First, let’s take a look at how you can fix the issue on a TV with built-in Chromecast.
In this situation, the first thing that you will need to do is check whether the Chromecast feature on your television is up to date. To do this you will need to get your smartphone and download the Google home app onto it.
Once the app is downloaded, you will then need to check that your TV and your phone are both connected to the same WI-FI network. If they are not, you will be unable to fix the issue.
After they are both connected you should see that the Chromecast feature will be detected on the Google Home app. By clicking on the settings for the Chromecast feature you will be able to access its update history and download any updates if necessary.
This will update your Chromecast, and should fix the no sound bug.
Alternatively, if you are using an independent Chromecast device then the process is only slightly different.
You should follow the same steps that we have outlined above, but you will also have to do something on top. As well as checking for an update for the Chromecast (and updating if necessary), you should do the same for the Disney+ app.
If this fix doesn’t work, you should unplug the Chromecast device and leave it disconnected for 10-15 seconds before plugging it back in. This is basically the textbook definition of switching something off then on, but sometimes it is enough to fix the no sound issue.
Disney Plus: Issues on Android
But Chromecast isn’t the only software that has experienced issues with the Disney+ application.
Some Android users have also reported issues with the Disney+ application on their smartphones and other Android devices.
Android and Google are very closely interlinked as Android devices operate on the Google Play Store, so it is unsurprising that both of these platforms have experienced issues with the app.
If you are experiencing issues with Disney+ on your Android device you should first check if the app is up to date. You can do this by going to the ‘my apps’ section of the Google Play Store. If you find that the app isn’t up to date then you should download the latest update and this should fix the issue.
However, if you find that your app is up to date (and are still experiencing issues) then you will have to do something different. Instead of updating the app, you will need to clear the cache data of it.
To do this you will need to go to the settings of your phone, then select apps before finding Disney+. Once you have located this app, open the storage setting and clear both the data and the cache. After this is done, your app should work like normal once more.
Summary
There you have it, a complete guide to how to fix the “no sound” issue on Disney+. So if you are experiencing this issue on Chromecast, or on your Android smartphone, follow the guide above to fix the problem.
Thanks so much the software update worked!!
