Thankfully, there are many different troubleshooting methods that you can try using to solve the problem, and we are going to explain them all for you in this article. Hopefully, you will be able to find the solution to your problem in no time.

Sky On Demand Not Working

If your Sky On Demand is not working as it should, then we can understand your frustration. We are going to leave some tips and methods that you can use to try and fix the issue below.

Common Problems That Occur With Sky On Demand

Even though this is a highly popular service, Sky On Demand still creates many issues among users, but there are some problems that occur more often than others.

Sky Q Won’t Download On Demand

Many users have reported that some shows and movies simply will not download. This will usually happen when you are trying to watch things that are not included in your subscription plan.

However, this could also be due to a bad internet connection, which is something else to consider.

Upgrade Subscription Message

If you are receiving the ‘upgrade subscription’ message, even if you have the right subscription plan, then it might help for you to use the restart method.

However, it is worth double-checking that you do have the right subscription plan in place before you go ahead and do this.

If you are receiving this error message, or you have any other issues that are related to your subscription, then you should make sure to check your subscription details to make sure that you are subscribed to ‘Video On Demand’.

There are also the different options of Ultimate On Demand or the BoxSets subscription, so make sure that you have the correct one for the thing that you are trying to watch.

This is typically an easy fix that is often overlooked when people think that they have the right package.

You can also call Sky and talk to someone about the package that you are subscribed to if you are struggling. They will be able to help you to get to the bottom of this.

No Broadband Connection

This problem most commonly occurs when you are not properly set up to the internet, but thankfully, this is an issue that can be easily solved in no time at all. You will need to follow the necessary network troubleshooting steps to fix this.

VoD Stuck on Downloading

If you are trying to download, but the download progress is stuck, then it might be worth trying the following method:

  • Locate your recordings by using the remote
  • Press ‘manage’ and then ‘downloading’
  • Continue to press ‘queue’
  • Now press ‘resume’ to start your progress again

What if None of These Things Are the Issue?

Even if none of these things are what is causing your problem, it is still with going through and trying out all of the troubleshooting methods, so you can rule them out.

If they work, then great, if not, you will need to keep working until you solve the problem.

How to Fix Sky On Demand Not Working

There are lots of things that you can try to fix your Sky On Demand issues, and we will leave them below, so you can try them out for yourself.

Restart Your Sky Box

This might sound too easy, but turning it off and turning it o n again is a tried and tested method that works a lot of the time.

A simple restart can actually fix a lot of the problems that people are experiencing, but there are some additional steps to this fix.

First things first, you should make sure that your Broadband is working. The next thing that you need to do is turn off your Sky box by using the remote.

Once you have done this, you can go ahead and unplug the Sky box from the mains, and unplug any Ethernet cable that might be connected.

You should now wait for 5 minutes, and once this time has passed, you can plug the box back in. The lights on the box should now flash up, and you can then press Sky and see if your problem is fixed.

Change Your Video Download Settings

After you have restarted your Sky box, if you still cannot use the Video On Demand service, then you will need to have a look at the settings for download options to make sure that everything is right.

Sometimes, changing these settings can help to solve the problem of not downloading.

To do this, you will first need to press the ‘services’ option on your remote control. Once you have done this, you can click ‘options’ and then ‘customise’. You will then need to press ‘CH +/-’ to skip to the next page.

You should then highlight the option that says ‘On-Demand Download format’ and change it to ‘SD only’. Now, all that is left to do is press the green button to save this new setting. Try to use the service again, and hopefully the issue will be no more.

Check Your Network Connection

More often than not, the thing that will be causing your Video On Demand issues will be related to your home network situation.

It is often likely that your Wi-Fi has not been set up properly with your Sky box, so you will need to fix this if this is the case. To do so, you will need to find out if your broadband has been set up properly.

You should first press ‘home’ on your remote control and scroll down until you find the ‘settings’ option. Once you have, press ‘status’ and go to ‘network connection’, followed by ‘network setup’.

You will then need to check that ‘connections to the internet’ and ‘connection to the broadband router’ are ticked.  If they are not, you should move on to the next steps below.

Reset Your Network Connection

If you have followed the previous steps to find that your network connection has not been set up properly, you will need to fix the problem. To do this, you will need to create a new network connection by following these steps.

First of all, you should go to ‘settings; and locate the network. Once you have done so, press the red button to reset the network. Go ahead and press ‘continue’, and your connection should then reset itself.

Now, you can press the ‘WPS button’ to reconnect your Wi-Fi. Once you have done this, go and check if your Video On Demand is working again. If the issue still persists, try resetting your router.
