HDMI Cable Connection

The most basic way of connecting your iPhone to your LG TV is to use an HDMI cable. Of course, most smartphones don’t have an HDMI input port so you’ll need to purchase an adapter. This means you’ll have to spend more money but you’ll get a steady wired connection that will be stronger and less ‘laggy’ than a wireless one.

When it comes to iPhones, you have two options, depending on the generation of your iPhone;

  • The earliest models of the iPhone 4 / 4s use a Digital AV adapter.
  • For Apple smartphone versions 5 / 5s and later, the Lighting adapter is used.

All you have to do is connect the HDMI cable into the back of your LG TV and then insert the other end into your adapter. Then, pop the iPhone end into your phone and the connection will be automatic. If it’s not, use your LG TV remote to find the right AV channel that relates to your HDMI cable.

The only drawback of this method is the length of the wire and the fact you have to be a bit closer to your TV. As mentioned, you’ll also need to shell out for a new cable to be able to do this method.

Use AirPlay

Airplay on LG TV

If you have a newer (2019 or later) LG Tv, it’s likely that your TV has Apple’s AirPlay software built into it. This means you can use Airplay to share content from your iPhone with your LG Tv. Here’s how:

The next method is a very easy option. All you need are a couple of apps and Wi-Fi that both your iPhone and TV can connect to. Having a wireless connection between your LG TV and iPhone means you can move around your house whilst keeping your connection live.

For this method, you need the Smart Share app on your LG TV. This app is designed specifically for connecting phones with your LG TV. You’ll also need the Twonky Beam app on your iPhone which can be downloaded from the App Store.
