Sky Q Remote and Box Buttons Explained

Sky Q Buttons Explained

Power On and Off

Located at the top of the remote next to the search button, the Standby button allows you to switch your Sky Q box on and off. To turn off your TV with HDMI control, hold the Standby button for three seconds.

Home Button

This button takes you to the home screen, where you can access the TV schedule, recordings, On Demand Programming, Sky Cinema, and more.

Dismiss Button

Found next to the Home button, this feature returns you to Live TV after you’ve finished browsing through the programming.

Press the button with three dots to open a sidebar with quick access to your apps.

Rewind, Play, and Fast-Forward

When viewing recordings, use the directional arrow buttons to rewind or fast forward. The Play and Pause button is between these arrows. Press the arrow buttons repeatedly to increase the speed from X2 up to X30, or hold the touchpad arrows for faster navigation.

Voice Control

Press the Voice Control button on the side or front of the remote and speak clearly into the microphone at the top to navigate using your voice.

Access Recordings

Press the word Sky at the top of your remote to instantly access your recordings.

Record Button

Use the red R button to record programs while browsing the TV guide.

Information Button

Press the ‘i’ button for a brief description of the TV show you’re watching at the bottom of the screen.

Colour Buttons

The red, yellow, green, and blue buttons are used during specific TV airings when prompted.

Channel +/-

Use these buttons to switch channels without navigating through the TV guide.

Volume Control

Adjust the volume to your preference using the volume buttons.

Mute Button

Quickly mute the sound by pressing the mute button.

Input Source Button

Change the input source of your television using this button.

Help, Subtitles, Audio Description

Access help, subtitles, and audio descriptions with these dedicated buttons.

Sky Q Box Buttons

Q Button: Press the Q button on the front of your Sky Q box to make your remote beep for 30 seconds, helping you find it if you’ve misplaced it.

WPS Button: This button, located on the back of the Sky Q box, is used to connect your Sky Q box to a Wi-Fi network without requiring a password. Simply press the WPS button on your Sky Q box and your router to establish a secure connection.

  1. I am trying to find the services button on my Sky Q remote control to set up my favourites, but I am unable to find it anywhere, can you help?

    • Hi Linda, I’m not sure what version of remote you have so try to arrange favourites by going to Settings>scroll to Favourites, then select Setup favourites. I hope this helps.
