If you want to connect your camcorder to your TV so you can watch your movies on a bigger screen, there are several ways to make that happen. Most modern recording devices feature multiple input or output connectors, making it easier to hook any of your external devices to a TV set.
In this tutorial, we will show you the steps to connect your camcorder to your TV. The steps below work with TVs and camcorders from various brands, including LG, Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, and Vizio.
How to Connect a Camcorder to a TV
Method 1: A/V Cable
Using an A/V cable is one of the easiest ways to connect your TV to a camcorder. Most TVs now come with video and audio inputs. You need a yellow RCA composite video connector and red and white stereo audio connectors, and a 1/8 inch jack. Here are the steps:
Step 1: First off, you need to locate the A/V inputs on your TV. Most TVs have yellow-red-white connectors at the rear, so make sure you check the back of your TV before proceeding.
Step 2: Now, attach the A/V cable to your TV. Plug the cable into the colour-matching slots on your TV. They should be labelled Video In and Audio Out. If you are using the S-video connector, insert the S-Video and red-white stereo into the available slots to initiate the connection.

Step 3: Attach the A/V cable to your camcorder. Insert the cable into the colour-matching slots labelled Audio and Video Out.
Step 4: You need to turn on Playback mode on your camcorder and turn on your TV.
Step 5: From here, select the appropriate video input. If you use an A/V cable, make sure you use the AUX input.
Step 6: Once everything is set, you now can play a movie or some music on your camcorder.
In short, using an A/V cable is straightforward to most folks as most TVs come with audio and video inputs. If you have trouble connecting your camcorder to the TV set using the A/V cable, select the appropriate video inputs on your TV.
Method 2: HDMI Port
If your camcorder has a built-in HDMI port, you can use it to hook it up to your TV set. An HDMI port provides a much-improved video quality over A/V. So make sure you take advantage of it. Here are the steps:
Step 1: Connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI slot on your camcorder, and then connect the other end of the cable to your TV.

Step 2: Power on your TV and set it to Playback mode.
Step 3: Now, switch the input on your TV to the HDMI port that is currently in use. Once you are done, play the media on your camcorder.
In short, if you have HDMI ports on both ends, things are much easier than using an A/V cable.
Method 3: USB Port
Alternatively, you can use a USB port if your camcorder has one to connect to your TV set. Here are the steps.
Step 1: Connect your camcorder to the TV set using the USB cable.
Step 2: Now turn on your TV and set the camcorder to Playback mode.
Step 3: Change the input to USB if you have not already done that on your TV.
