It’s that time of year again where the market gets flooded with some of the best tech deals going. This is especially the case with TVs. If you’re after a great new TV, you may want to have a look at some of the best OLED TVs for under £1000. OLED TVs have some of the best screens you can buy and they don’t have to be very expensive. OLED TVs use individual pixels that are self-lit, instead of LED TVs which use back panels to light the screen. This gives OLED TVs an advantage and means they have better viewing angles and more consistent lighting with brighter whites and darker blacks. OLED TVs also have better color accuracy.
Of course, if you spend more you normally get better quality for your money but this isn’t always the case. We’ve done a roundup of the best OLED TVs for under £1000 on Amazon to show you what’s currently available.
Size: 55 inches
Resolution: 3840 x 2160 pixels, 4K
Key features: α7 Gen4 AI processor, 4K SELF-LIT OLED, Dolby Vision IQ, and Dolby Atmos, built-in Google Assistant, and Alexa
The first OLED TV under £1000 on our list is the LG OLED55A16LA 55 inch. This OLED TV is great for all kinds of content and with Dolby Vision IQ and Dolby Atmos, it’s especially great for gaming due to the low latency. It comes with low blue light and zeroes flicker so it’s easy on the eye, even though it is bright to look at. 4K means you’ll be able to watch sports and movies in extremely high quality and you’ll be blown away if you’ve never viewed an OLED TV before.
It comes with all the apps you love like Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon Video. All of these apps can be accessed by using the neat little smart remote that comes with it. This TV has overwhelmingly positive reviews on Amazon which is why it takes the top spot on this list. It rivals more expensive OLED TVs in terms of features but it is worth pointing out that the sound quality can be a little muddy at times, much like many smart TVs, so it would be advisable to also purchase a soundbar if you go for this amazing TV for under £1000.
Size: 48 inches
Key features: α9 Gen3 Processor, Alexa, Google Assistant, ThinQ, Dolby Atmos
The OLED48CX5LC is another fantastic option for an OLED TV under £1000 and it’s currently Amazon’s top pick. Like the LG, this TV comes with all of your favorite apps and it can also be used to control your home ecosystem with ThinQ, Alexa, and Google Assistant built-in. All of these features can be activated with the smart remote that is included upon purchase. The ultra HD and 4K pictures make it a joy to watch movies and sports on and with 6ms of low latency, gaming is a breeze.
You may have to play around with the settings however as the picture can struggle in darker scenes. This is easy to do, however. The sound quality leaves a lot to be desired too however the Dolby Atmos does a fairly decent job with the bass and includes an overall sound output of 40W. This is a solid TV and well worth the price, especially if you can afford a more expensive OLED TV.
Price: from £400
Size: 55 inches
Key features: Alexa, Google Assistant, ThinQ, α9 Gen3 Processor
The LG OLED55BX6LB is one of the cheapest OLED smart TVs on Amazon and it starts from £400. Like the other best OLED TVs for under £1000 on our list, you’ll get the usual popular apps built-in as well as the Google Assistant and Alexa capabilities.
This OLED TV is a basic OLED TV with good picture quality and passable sound, however, the sound does suffer due to poor speakers so the sound can often be a bit muddy when turned up high. It also lacks the brightness that you’d expect from more expensive OLED TVs and the viewing angles are limited due to a bit of screen glare at wider angles.
Still, this smart TV comes with a 120Hz refresh rate which makes it a good TV for gaming and general entertainment.
Size: 55 inches
Key features: Perfect Picture Engine, Dolby Vision∙Atmos, HDR 10+, Freeview Play, Compatible with Alexa, Android TV
The Philips Ambilight 55OLED705/12 is another solid OLED TV under £1000. The Ambilight feature helps to emit the right amount of light around the edge of the TV based on what is happening on the screen. The 4K resolution gives a beautiful picture and the Dolby Atmos sound delivers surprisingly good output for an OLED TV under £1000.
This OLED TV also comes with the apps you’ve come to love and rely on and this TV also lets you control your home’s ecosystem with plenty of voice control integrations. The OLED pixels help to light white pictures with truly crisp precision but it’s the darker scenes that let this TV down. The HDR 10+ can make some black scenes very hard to see at times which can be frustrating when you’re watching dark movies. The only way around this is to play with the contrast controls. If that doesn’t bother you though, this is a brilliant OLED TV under £1000 on Amazon right now.
The Bottom Line
All of the OLED TVs on our list are quite similar. You won’t get better quality OLED TVs unless you pay more but if you’re not bothered about having the best viewing angles and the highest refresh rates, these TVs will be fine for you. If we were to pick one it would have to be the Philips Ambilight due to the Ambilight feature. It was a very sharp picture and the brightest whites. 4K looks amazing on this TV and for under £1000, we think it’s a steal.
